Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support the Lincoln Internal Medicine clinic. Under licensed clinicians, you will provide frontline patient care and perform essential clerical duties to keep the office running.

You will take vital signs, perform EKGs and phlebotomy, document patient information, assist with injections, manage charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and handle pre-authorizations as needed.

Qualifications

• Support clinic operations as Medical Assistant II under licensed clinicians.
• Take vital signs, perform EKGs and phlebotomy per clinic standards.
• Assist with injections and routine clinical procedures.
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Verify insurance coverage and manage pre-authorizations as needed.
• Schedule appointments, handle co-pays, and maintain patient flow.
• Maintain supplies, charts, and equipment; ensure sanitation and safety.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to rooms and record vitals; document health status and progress.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests per standards.
• Assist with injections within scope of practice; support exam procedures.
• Maintain records, order supplies, and manage inventory levels.
• Coordinate with insurers for coverage and prior authorizations.
• Collect co-payments and document financial transactions.
• Support admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.
• Ensure cleanliness of instruments and patient areas; maintain EMR data.
