Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support clinical operations in a Central Massachusetts clinic. The role includes patient prep, vital signs, specimen collection, EKGs, injections, and coordination with the healthcare team.

Under licensed supervision, you will manage clerical duties, chart documentation, and patient scheduling, ensuring smooth clinic workflow and patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification from AHA or Red Cross.
• Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to examination rooms and records vital signs.
• Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care tests.
• Assists with injections within scope of practice.
• Assists in routine physical examinations or clinical procedures.
• Reviews lab results and alerts physicians as needed.
• Communicates observations to clinicians per guidelines.
• Ensures instruments and scopes are cleaned and sterilized.
• Operates sterilization/cleaning systems as required.
• Assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
• Maintains supplies and inventory; rotates stock.
• Maintains patient records in the EMR.
• Processes prescriptions and refills as directed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
