Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, reporting results, and maintaining quality control across high-standard laboratory operations.

You will work within NYU Langone Health’s integrated system, collaborating with clinicians and staff, ensuring accurate results, and contributing to patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or related field as required by NYS education standards.
• One year experience in a clinical laboratory or internship at an approved facility acceptable.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills required to collaborate with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
• Follows approved policies and procedures for methodologies and instrument operations; records and reports results.
• Maintains quality control, instrument maintenance, function checks and calibration as required.
• Troubleshoots instrument issues following approved guidelines and actions if controls are invalid.
• Reviews patient results before release, correlates with history/previous values and flags illogical results.
• Communicates critical values to medical staff as per protocol and documents accordingly.
• Completes proficiency and competency assessments as assigned.
• Maintains supplies and logs; orders as directed by lead.
• Participates in training of new technologists/residents as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
