Job summary

Qualifications

• NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physical Sciences from an accredited college or university or education requirement grandfathered by the NYSOP.
• One year of experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
• Effective Interpersonal Communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests and procedures.
• Follows approved policies and procedures in performing specific methodologies and instrument operations and for recording and reporting results.
• Performs quality control, instrument maintenance, function checks and calibration.
• Troubleshoots and takes action when control values or instrument checks are invalid or inconsistent.
• Reviews patient results prior to release to EMR and correlates with patient history/previous values.
• Communicates critical values to medical staff per protocol and documents accordingly.
• Completes assigned proficiency and competency assessments.
• Maintains testing supplies and logs; orders as directed by lead.
• Enters PSI data as required.
• Participates in training of new technologists/residents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
