Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of laboratory tests, report data for diagnosis and treatment, and ensure quality control. The role may involve multiple areas such as Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology or Microbiology with no supervision for processing or reporting patient results.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, ASCP MT certification is preferred, and at least three years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent.
• ASCP MT certification preferred.
• Three years of related laboratory experience required.
• Experience with LIS systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory tests across Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology or Microbiology.
• Ensure test results are accurate and properly documented.
• Maintain equipment, logs, calibration and quality control procedures.
• Handle specimen processing and reporting of patient test results without supervision.
• Assist with start-up procedures and test validation as needed.
• Demonstrate initiative, professionalism and problem-solving abilities.
