Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Possession of an Associate’s Degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Technician or related education meeting NY standards; or possession of a license/limited permit to practice as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician (CCLT) in NY.
• Special Requirements: Limited permit to practice as a CCLT at appointment and license within 24 months, or license at permanent appointment.
• Note: Degree equivalency may require external evaluation per NY requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conducts examinations and analyses in clinical laboratory areas such as biochemistry and hematology.
• Receives and prepares specimens for procedures by licensed staff using blood, urine, and other body fluids.
• Prepares reagents and test solutions for clinical laboratory functions.
• Operates laboratory instrumentation; troubleshoots and may repair instrument malfunctions under supervision.
• Communicates laboratory data to healthcare providers to optimize patient care.
• Handles potentially infectious specimens with safety precautions.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
