Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center’s Division of Clinical Pathology seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform tests in chemistry and related duties. You will operate automated and manual instruments, maintain QC logs, and ensure proper specimen handling across multiple site labs in the Greater New York area.

Requirements include an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), 1+ year experience, and NY license. Knowledge of lab QA/QC concepts and laboratory information systems is essential; precision and

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technician or life sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience required.
• New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technician License required.
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, QA/QC concepts and practices.
• Proficient using automated and manual laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine QC.
• Operate automated instruments.
• Maintain logs for manual procedures.
• Follow infection control procedures.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment.
• Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems.
• Recognize pediatric, neonatal panic values.
• Review results for consistency with patient demographics.
• Report panic and abnormal values, handle specimen issues (QNS, clotted, lipemic, hemolyzed).
