Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or Generalist trainee permit) with license within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification within 90 days of hire; higher standards for Academic Medical Center facilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs, develops and interprets routine and specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Performs quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting; documents corrective actions as needed.
• Adheres to regulatory and accreditation standards; follows safety guidelines and proficiency testing protocols.
• Participates in data collection/analysis for performance improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Adapts communication and approach to patient population and privacy requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned and ensures compliance with all policies.
