Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our clinical laboratory team. The MLS will perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic duties, ensuring specimen integrity, accurate test results, and timely reporting to physicians.

The role emphasizes adherence to SOPs, quality control, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced hospital lab. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field and ASCP MLS certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field enabling ASCP certification.
• ASCP MLS/MT certification or eligibility required.
• ASCP categorical BB/C/H/M certification or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct orders and proper specimen handling.
• Verifies orders and non-patient information per protocol.
• Performs analytical testing following SOPs and maintains instrument QC.
• Conducts post-analytic reporting, generates written results and ensures timely communication to clinicians.
• Maintains safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science / Clinical Laboratory Science / Biology / Chemistry / Allied Health

ASCP General MLS/MT Certification or eligible

ASCP Categorical BB, C, H or M Certification or eligible
