Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform complex clinical testing with strict adherence to SOPs and quality controls. You will handle pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases, ensure accurate specimen labeling, and communicate results to physicians promptly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field with ASCP eligibility.
• General MLS/MT (ASCP) certification or eligible, plus applicable state licensure.
• ASCP categorical certifications (BB/C/H/M) or eligible, within a reasonable timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytic workflow and ensure correct ordering and specimen collection.
• Verify orders and non-patient information; handle unresolved or ambiguous orders.
• Carry out analytical testing following SOPs and maintain instrument QC.
• Maintain test system integrity through preventive maintenance and correct reagent usage.
• Perform post-analytic duties: release results, generate reports, and ensure PHI confidentiality.

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field

ASCP Certification eligibility

General MLS or MT (ASCP) Certification or eligible

Categorical BB, C, H or M (ASCP) Certification or eligible
