Job summary

Lexington Health Blythewood Urgent Care seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to provide high-quality laboratory testing for inpatients and outpatients. The MLS ensures accurate results and complies with established policies, contributing to timely diagnoses and patient care.

Responsibilities include manual and automated testing, instrument calibration, and ongoing quality control, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and continuous education within the LMC lab network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• Active MT/MLS certification by ASCP or equivalent board.
• Certification within one year for registry-eligible candidates.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialty laboratory testing to support patient diagnosis.
• Ensure accuracy of results and adhere to quality control policies.
• Maintain instrument calibration and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Provide patient-focused specimen collection and processing as required.
• Train new staff or students on procedures and equipment.
