Job summary

Mental Health Association of Rochester is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee staff, manage procurement test operations, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective services in our clinical lab.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with at least three years of phlebotomy or lab processing experience.
• Leadership experience or management training required.
• Strong personnel, financial, and organizational management skills.
• Proficiency with software programs; excellent communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and understand regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and oversee staff workflow, providing leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Establish priorities, schedules, and work procedures, resolving daily issues to ensure timely specimen collection and processing.
• Monitor departmental financial activities, control expenditures, and assist in budget preparation, focusing on waste and expense reduction.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (CAP, CMS, AABB, FDA, CLIA) and OSHA regulations.
• Lead or participate in task forces to improve service quality, compliance, and efficiency using methodologies like Six Sigma and Lean.
• Serve as a communication liaison, addressing internal and external inquiries related to testing and specimen management.
