Job summary

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports results per policy.
• Performs calibration and maintenance of instruments and quality control.
• Recognizes instrument malfunction and notifies supervisors; participates in proficiency testing.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients per protocol.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff.
• Supports quality improvement and CAP regulatory requirements in acute settings.
• Performs specialty testing in various areas and supports turn-around time goals.
• Provides timely laboratory results for critical care departments during high acuity events.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care knowledge per department standards.
