Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join the clinical laboratory team. You will perform moderate to highly complex testing, analyze specimens, and report results in a timely manner according to approved protocols.

The role requires a biology degree with a NAACLS MT program and national certification (ASCP preferred) with registry eligibility if applicable. Applicant will engage in quality control, safety, and ongoing education in a non-exempt environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level biology degree with NAACLS MT program and national certification.
• Alternative path with NAACLS MT + ASCP certification.
• CLIA '88 Equivalent certification.
• Registry-eligible MT/CLS with 1-year to achieve certification.
• Section Certification eligible with 5 years of technical lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates, troubleshoots and maintains laboratory equipment to ensure high quality, accurate and cost-effective results.
• Reports results within time limits for procedures, including STAT and critical values.
• Records patient data in LIS/HIS to ensure turnaround time and retrievability of results.
• Performs and documents quality control, reports discrepancies, and follows corrective actions.
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities and proficiency testing per Laboratory Quality Plan.
• Maintains a safe lab environment with proper protective equipment and safety protocols.
• Supports cost-saving initiatives and efficient use of reagents, supplies and waste reduction.

Education

Baccalaureate Degree in Biological Science with completion of NAACLS approved Medical Technology program along with certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency

Baccalaureate Degree in Biological Science with completion of NAACLS approved Medical Technology program along with ASCP Certification

CLIA '88 Equivalent (HEW/HHS Certification)

Registry Eligible Baccalaureate Degree in Biological Science with NAACLS MT/CLS program and certification within a year

Registry Eligible for a Section Certification with five years of technical experience in the Clinical Areas of the Laboratory
