Job summary

Capital Health in Pennington, NJ is seeking a laboratory technologist to perform a range of testing (bacteriological, serological, hematological, and chemical) using both automated and manual methods. You will report data promptly to care teams and assist with quality control and staff guidance.

This 20-hour per week, 1.0 FTE role requires a science degree or HEW certification as a medical technologist, plus prior clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in science related field or HEW certification as a medical technologist in lieu of BS degree.
• Experience: Previous clinical laboratory employment.
• Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with personal computers. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Usual Work Day: 8 Hours

Responsibilities

• Performs accurate and timely varied or specialized testing (bacteriological, serological, hematological, chemical) following infection control practices.
• Performs testing using computer linked automated equipment or manual methods and consults with supervisors or pathologists on atypical results.
• Reports clinical data accurately and efficiently to ensure timely patient information for caregivers.
• Performs statistical analysis relevant to analytical methodologies and records workload statistics.
• Instructs student technicians and staff; provides technical guidance as required.
• Provides age-appropriate care when performing phlebotomy or direct patient services.
• Prepares blood samples and body fluids for analysis with proper identity checks.
• Maintains quality control measures and meets established turnaround times; performs routine maintenance on equipment.
• Performs other duties as required.
