Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a laboratory support professional to provide clerical, registration, and patient care support, ensure specimen preparation and processing, and perform waived laboratory testing in applicable lab sections.

You may perform phlebotomy and specimen collection, maintain equipment and quality control, document tasks, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive patient experience while complying with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ASCP certification preferred; CPR certification preferred for Offsite Lab sections.
• One year of clinical laboratory/medical experience preferred; two years phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations related to laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Completes technical tasks such as specimen accessioning, preparation, processing, delivery and storage.
• May include phlebotomy and other specimen collection.
• Performs clerical tasks and specimen accessioning per testing protocols.
• Maintains equipment, quality control, and preventive maintenance to support laboratory operations.
• Performs waived laboratory testing and documents patient reports, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting as required.
• Documents daily, weekly, and monthly tasks on work area lists.
• Delivers service excellence and ensures quality patient care while communicating effectively with diverse client backgrounds.
• Participates in continuing education programs.
