Job summary

University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and collect specimens across patient ages in a fast-paced clinical lab.

You will label specimens, ensure proper paperwork, assist in clerical tasks, and maintain strict asepsis while delivering timely test results. Knowledge of safety protocols and patient communication is essential for quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum - High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred - Two years of college with a major in biological sciences, chemistry or equivalent preferred.
• Preferred - A minimum of one year experience working in a clinical laboratory or anatomic pathology lab preferred.
• California Phlebotomy Certification - CPTI or CPTII required.
• Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Answers and handles or screens and transfers all telephone calls.
• Appropriately uses venipunctures and finger stick/heel stick procedures on infants and Children.
• Obtains specimens from designated patients accurately and efficiently.
• Assists in procurement of other clinical specimens including bone marrow and other procedures.
• Performs venipuncture and specimen labeling with proper paperwork.
• Process specimens according to laboratory procedures to ensure accurate testing.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
• Promote professionalism and cooperation in the lab and hospital settings.
