Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a per diem Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine and complex laboratory tests across departments, providing rapid and accurate results for physicians. The role requires independence, adherence to CLIA procedures, and strong documentation practices.

The position offers non-exempt scheduling with per diem hours, including evenings and weekends, and may include a signing bonus based on interview eligibility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology is required.
• Minimum one year of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to use laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory tests to support diagnosis and treatment.
• Assess specimen acceptability and maintain sample integrity throughout testing.
• Set up and calibrate laboratory equipment; perform routine maintenance and documentation.
• Notify supervisor of unusual or critical results and ensure timely data reporting.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, JCAHO, CAP, etc.).
