Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform a broad range of laboratory tests and support patient care in American Indian communities. You will collect specimens, evaluate results, and ensure accuracy while maintaining laboratory quality and compliance.

Responsibilities include operating instruments, preparing reagents and culture media, and documenting findings to support healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• General experience or education credentials required for the position.
• Specialized experience in CLIA-waived testing and quality control.
• Experience collecting and processing patient specimens with accessioning into LIS.
• Understanding of biosafety, infection control, and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, serology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain laboratory instruments and prepare reagents and media.
• Collect and process specimens, ensure specimen integrity, and track in LIS.
• Document results and support quality assurance and accreditation activities.
