Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV seeks a Laboratory Assistant to perform basic specimen processing, clerical duties and data entry to support patient care and accurate reporting. The role requires a High School Diploma, WV PoC license, and six months of phlebotomy or lab experience; CPT preferred.

You will operate equipment, prepare reagents, run quality checks and communicate results and supply needs to supervisors in a 40-hour, non-exempt schedule.

Qualifications

• Six months of Phlebotomy, Lab Assistant or Cytopreparatory experience.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• PoC License required; CPT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for basic diagnostic procedures.
• Operate lab equipment for basic testing and processing.
• Prepare reagents and solutions for testing.
• Perform quality control procedures to ensure reliability.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment per SOPs.
• Report test results promptly with minimal errors.
• Communicate supply needs and issues to supervisor.
• Support laboratory operations with clerical tasks.
• Meet established turnaround times for workload.
