Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a Lab Assistant with phlebotomy exposure to support specimen collection, processing, and data entry in a hospital setting. You will handle blood and body fluid specimens, answer phones, and perform clerical tasks to ensure smooth lab operations.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, WV PoC License, and up to six months of related experience. The position includes varying shifts and on-site duties to maintain efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• West Virginia PoC License required.
• Six months of phlebotomy/lab assistant/cytopreparatory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for basic diagnostic procedures.
• Operate lab equipment for basic testing and processing.
• Prepare reagents and solutions for processing and testing.
• Perform quality control under supervision on reagents and equipment.
• Maintain and perform quality control on equipment.
• Report test results promptly with minimal errors.
• Use resources efficiently to support patient care and throughput.
• Complete workload within turnaround times as tests order status changes.
• Notify Supervisor/Manager of unusual supply usage or stock levels.
• Communicate unusual medical/technical problems or patient results.
• Perform clerical duties to support lab operations.
