Job summary

Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Support Attendant to perform basic lab functions, process specimens, and provide excellent customer service.

You will collect, process, store and transport blood, body fluids, and tissue specimens, while handling clerical tasks such as data entry and phone duties. The role requires a high school diploma, WV PoC license, and preferred CPT phlebotomy certification, with at least 6 months of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• West Virginia Point of Care Technician (PoC) License.
• Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) preferred.
• Six (6) months of Phlebotomy, Lab Assistant or Cytopreparatory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens to perform basic diagnostic procedures and contribute to accurate patient results.
• Operate laboratory equipment/instrumentation for basic testing and specimen processing.
• Prepare reagents and solutions for specimen processing and testing per SOPs.
• Perform quality control procedures to ensure reagent and equipment reliability.
• Perform routine maintenance and quality control of laboratory equipment.
• Report test results with minimal errors and in a timely manner.
• Communicate unusual supply usage or low stock levels to Supervisor/Manager.
• Assist with clerical duties to support laboratory operations.
