Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Technician I to join the Duke Health laboratories at Duke University Hospital. You will perform routine and specialized procedures, ensure proper specimen collection, and support timely delivery to the appropriate lab while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or GED and phlebotomy training; phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; phlebotomy training recommended for phlebotomy tasks.
• Phlebotomy certification recommended.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Proficient in basic computer use and lab systems.
• Follow procedures and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures.
• Prepare and initiate tests and procedures including phlebotomy and specimen management.
• Obtain and label specimens; ensure proper order and accuracy.
• Maintain patient identification and specimen tracking.
• Assist with laboratory records, ordering, and messenger duties as required.
• Perform routine maintenance and quality control as needed.
• Use hospital information systems and Beaker for specimen processing.
