Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and interpret routine and specialized laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in support of patient diagnosis and treatment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field, state licensure if applicable, and appropriate certifications (ASCP/AMT/AAB). Proficiency with Windows and strong analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related science field.
• Current license in the state of practice (if applicable).
• ASCP/AMT/AAB generalist certification or discipline certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist.
• Ability to use Windows-based software for data entry and retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Perform, develop and interpret routine and specialized laboratory testing independently within established timeframes.
• Conduct quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting; document corrective actions.
• Adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards; review safety, compliance and proficiency testing procedures.
• Assist in performance improvement initiatives and manage inventory of supplies and reagents.
