Job summary

The role requires a Bachelor’s in medical technology or related field, state licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist or eligibility with license within 90 days, and certification within 90 days. Strong computer and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or Generalist Trainee permit or Lab Assistant license) and must obtain CLS Generalist license within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as MLS/MT must be obtained within 90 days of hire; ASCP/AA B categ. if in Academic Medical Center facility.

Responsibilities

• Performs, develops and interprets routine and/or specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Performs, analyzes and records quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting; escalates when results are out of control.
• Adheres to regulatory compliance and accreditation standards; maintains safety and proficiency testing protocols.
• Participates in performance improvement by data collection/analysis and supports cost reduction via inventory management.
