Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our on-site lab team. You will perform routine and specialized testing, ensure quality control, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

The role requires a MLS/medical technology degree, an active or soon-to-be Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license, and certification within 90 days of hire. Strong data entry, communication, and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in medical technology, MLS, or related life sciences.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or within 180 days of hire).
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification within 90 days of hire.
• Proficiency with Windows-based software and data entry.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, develops and interprets routine and/or specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Performs, analyzes and records quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting with appropriate action for accuracy.
• Adheres to regulatory and accreditation standards for laboratories and safety guidelines.
• Participates in performance improvement by data collection and analysis and supports cost reduction initiatives.
• Adapts behavior to the patient population and respects privacy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
