Job description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

1. United States Citizenship: Be a citizen of the U.S.
2. Non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 7407(a).
3. English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English per 38 U.S.C. § 7403 (f).
4. Education: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
5. Foreign Graduates: Education completed outside the U.S. must be deemed equivalent by a private organization or evaluated by an acceptable agency.
6. Certification: Must meet one of the certification options listed, such as ASCP BOC or AMT generalist or categorical certification.

Additional experience and knowledge requirements are specified for GS-12 level, including one year of specialized experience, knowledge of laboratory information systems, and ability to perform independently.

Physical Requirements

Includes standing, lifting, carrying, wearing PPE, visual and hearing requirements, and emotional stability.

Duties

The CLS - LIM develops policies, provides advice on LIS, implements coding and mapping, analyzes trends, ensures compliance, trains personnel, and performs audits. Other duties include assisting in routine or emergency procedures and working weekends/holidays as needed.
