Job summary

University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital seeks a full‑time phlebotomy technician to perform venipuncture and specimen collection for inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients. The role includes labeling and processing specimens, clerical support, and ensuring a clean, safe lab environment.

The candidate must hold California Phlebotomy CPTI/CPTII and BLS certification, with preferred prior clinical laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• California Phlebotomy Certification (CPTI or CPTII) required.
• Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood from in- and out-patients and ER patients as needed.
• Process specimens according to laboratory procedures and label properly.
• Perform venipuncture using established procedures and assist in clerical tasks in the lab.
• Handle specimen labeling, paperwork, and communication of results to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in procurement and storage of clinical specimens; maintain safe, organized work area.
• Greet patients and visitors and obtain required information for paperwork.
• Follow asepsis/antisepsis principles and report discrepancies promptly.
