Job summary

Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform routine blood tests, quality control, phlebotomy and instrument maintenance in a central lab setting.

The role requires a relevant A.A./A.S. degree, a state license, and at least four years in healthcare. Expect to work with centrifuges, incubators and blood bank refrigerators while ensuring documentation, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• A.A. or A.S. degree required.
• Active state license required; CEUs preferred.
• Minimum of four years experience in healthcare, preferably in a clinical setting.
• National lab certification preferred; BLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine blood tests with quality control before testing.
• Prepare specimens for microscope examination.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment; troubleshoot instruments when needed.
• Maintain documentation and logs for test reports, QC, equipment and training.
• Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and confidentiality of patient data.
• Assist in training new employees to related duties.
• Overtime may be required with adequate notice.
