Job summary

American Oncology Network (AON) Fort Wayne location is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant (PRN) to perform routine blood tests, quality control, and instrument maintenance in a central lab. The role requires an A.A./A.S. degree and state licensure with preferred national certification and BLS.

The successful candidate will handle documentation, inventory, and training of new staff while adhering to safety and regulatory standards and potential overtime when needed.

Qualifications

• A.A. or A.S. degree required.
• Appropriate state license required; National lab certification preferred; BLS preferred.
• Minimum of four years experience in the healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting.
• Experience with quality control and regulatory compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.
• Maintain documentation including test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and training checklists on schedule.
• Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and place orders as needed.
• Perform technical laboratory procedures with accuracy and precision; ensure compliance with accreditation/regulatory standards.
• Operate and perform maintenance on centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators; initiate troubleshooting when necessary.
• Maintain lab cleanliness and comply with safety guidelines; protect patient and employee confidentiality.
• Assist in training new employees and be prepared to work overtime when required.
