Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston, OR is seeking a Lab Assistant to collect venous and capillary blood samples across age groups, prepare requisitions, and support LIS-based workflows. You will assist in basic tests under supervision and ensure accurate labeling and reporting.

Responsibilities include patient registration and telephone communications, data entry, and adherence to safety and PPE requirements in a busy hospital laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• National Phlebotomy Certification is required.
• Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a working laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Able to collect venous and capillary blood samples from pediatric to geriatric patients and provide urine collection instructions.
• Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Demonstrates ability in clerical and interpersonal aspects of clinical lab services.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle specimens with care.
• Follow instructions for laboratory test procedures and safety protocols.
