Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care seeks a Lab Assistant to collect venous and capillary blood samples and assist with basic lab duties. You will use LIS to place orders, retrieve results, and deliver reports while supporting patient care across age groups.

The role requires at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma, and National Phlebotomy Certification. Per diem, with competitive benefits and opportunities to grow within the lab team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National Phlebotomy Certification required.
• Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience in a working laboratory.
• Preferred: BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect venous and capillary blood samples from pediatric to geriatric patients and provide proper urine collection instructions.
• Demonstrate good manual dexterity and precision in sample handling.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively with staff and patients.
• Support clerical and interpersonal aspects of clinical lab services.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and carry up to 25 lbs frequently.
• Follow instructions for laboratory test procedures and safety protocols.
• Identify, match, and distinguish colors for sample labeling and safety indicators.
• Ensure specimens are collected from the correct patient and recorded accurately.
• Participate in education for applicable DNV programs.
