Job Responsibilities

• Process specimens, prepare blood smears and body fluid slides, centrifuge specimens, streak microbiology plates, and prepare specimens for transport to reference labs.
• Understand laboratory methods, demonstrate knowledge of pathological processes, and correlate disease states with test results. Perform specimen processing and testing, including moderate complexity tests.
• Set up instruments, perform basic equipment maintenance, and conduct quality control procedures, collecting quality assurance data.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, communicating test results, typing procedures, data entry, filing, faxing, and inventory management.
• May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and waived testing as assigned.
• Ensure all work complies with laboratory regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
• Must have experience in pediatrics and neonatal care.
