Mercy Health in Lorain is seeking a Lab Tech Assistant for the Core Laboratory to prepare specimens and perform waived to limited testing. You will register orders, accession samples, and support technologists with instrument prep and QC procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with an Associates in Biology or Chemistry preferred and laboratory experience encouraged. Interstate travel not typical; on-site shift with evenings/nights is common.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree in Biology or Chemistry preferred.
• Laboratory experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Performs waived and limited moderately complex testing.
• Reports testing and QC procedures per established protocols.
• Supports technologists with instrument prep, reagents and maintenance.
• Recognizes instrument malfunctions and communicates issues.
• Operates and maintains clinical lab equipment with safety checks.
• Registers, accessioning, triaging and processing specimens for testing.
• Uses LIS/LIS to track specimen transport and reduce losses.
• Maintains inventory levels of supplies.
• When in Microbiology, sets up cultures and gram stains as needed.
