Job summary

MercyOne Health System is seeking a Lab Assistant to support multiple laboratory departments by assisting staff with collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of tests essential for patient care.

The role requires accurate specimen handling with patient identifiers, LIS data entry, and adherence to safety and quality standards. High school diploma or GED is required, and there is a full benefits package with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures, finger sticks and heel sticks per patient age group and proper collection.
• Registers and logs specimens in the LIS and ensures accurate labeling and documentation.
• Performs specimen processing and related documentation per laboratory protocols.
• Supports general laboratory operations and restocks supplies; participates in team projects as assigned.
