Job summary

Western Home Communities’ Learn and Earn team seeks a Clinical Development Coordinator (LPN/RN) to mentor staff and deliver clinical instruction across CNA, CAPS, and Medication Manager programs. You’ll guide orientation, onboarding, and ongoing education while partnering with nursing leadership to advance careers.

The role emphasizes hands-on teaching, curriculum delivery, and documenting progress in a supportive, flexible environment.

Qualifications

  • RN or LPN program graduate and Iowa license required.
  • Two years of long-term care experience preferred.
  • Prior education or clinical instruction experience is a plus.
  • LPN supervisory course required or willingness to obtain on hire (LPN applicants).
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain; BLS/CPR instructor is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with diverse teams; flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Western Home Learn and Earn team is seeking a Clinical Development Coordinator (LPN/RN) who is passionate about helping others grow in their careers and achieve their educational goals. In this role, you’ll support employees at various stages of their clinical development, including serving as a CNA Class instructor and secondary instructor for CAPS CNA classes, providing clinical instruction for Medication Manager training, and assisting with new nurse orientation and clinical onboarding. You’ll use your clinical knowledge and teaching skills to provide meaningful instruction, build confidence, and help employees develop the skills they need to succeed.

What you’ll do as a Clinical Development Coordinator:
  • Lead CNA classes and support CAPS classes as a secondary CNA instructor, assisting with classroom and clinical instruction and providing guidance and support to students.

  • Provide clinical instruction for Medication Manager training , including education, hands-on instruction, and competency support. (RN applicants only)

  • Assist with new nurse orientation and clinical onboarding , helping new nurses develop confidence and familiarity with clinical expectations, processes, and best practices.

  • Onboard, train, and work 1:1 with direct care professionals to further their education through CNA, DCP, and other career advancement opportunities.

  • Plan and facilitate learning activities using instructional methods and materials appropriate for the objectives and needs of the learner.

  • Assess student and employee progress regularly and provide feedback and progress updates as required.

  • Create a positive, memorable, and supportive learning experience that helps employees build confidence in their clinical roles.

  • Provide ongoing clinical education, coaching, support, and guidance to employees as they develop their skills and advance their careers.

  • Assist with competency evaluations, clinical onboarding, and other education and training opportunities as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Learn & Earn team, nursing leadership, and other departments to support employee development and clinical education initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to education, competencies, and employee progress.

  • Provide support, education, and guidance to those you have the opportunity to work alongside.

What you’ll need as a Clinical Development Coordinator:
  • Graduate of a state board-approved RN or LPN program.

  • Currently licensed as an RN or LPN in Iowa.

  • LPN Supervisory Course required, or willingness to obtain upon hire (LPN applicants only).

  • Two years of experience in Long-Term Care preferred.

  • Prior education, training, or clinical instruction experience preferred, but not required.

  • A passion for nursing, education, employee development, and lifelong learning.

  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain; BLS/CPR Instructor certification preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a variety of teams and departments.

  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of classes, students, and clinical education opportunities.

  • Exceptional attendance and reliability.
