Job summary

Western Home Communities is seeking a caring Registered Nurse (RN) to join an award-winning team. The role emphasizes compassionate care, team collaboration, and strong staffing ratios to ensure high-quality resident care.

As an RN you will provide medication administration, assessments, and coordinated care with physicians and supervisors, while supporting LPNs and CNAs and participating in admission planning in a supportive, values-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a state board-approved nursing program.
  • Currently licensed to practice as an RN in Iowa.
  • CPR certification current or willingness to obtain.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Outstanding attendance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and supervisor.
  • Completes resident assessments; supervises LPN in data gathering.
  • Maintains awareness of residents' conditions under their care.
  • Administers medications and treatments; responsible for resident care.
  • Discusses care with Director of Nursing for complex issues and transfers.
  • Coordinates admission planning; recognizes family contributions.
  • Provides emotional and physical comfort and safety for residents and families.
  • Supervises and teaches CNAs; supports team collaboration.

What you’ll do as a Registered Nurse (RN)****:
  • Effectively communicates resident needs with physicians and immediate supervisor
  • Completes resident assessments as required; supervises LPN in data gathering of information
  • Maintains awareness of the condition of all residents under their care
  • Accurately administers all medications, treatments, and physician orders; taking ultimate responsibility for resident care
  • Confers with the Director of Nursing on an ongoing basis with special problems of care, resident transfers, management of workload, etc.
  • Coordinates preparation and planning of resident admission; giving proper recognition to the real and potential contribution of family and others in planning nursing care
  • Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of residents, and emotional support to families
  • Supervises, assists, consults with and teaches certified nursing assistants
What you’ll need as a Registered Nurse (RN)****:
  • Graduate of a state board-approved school
  • Currently licensed in Iowa
  • Current in CPR certification or willing to achieve it
  • This is an hourly position, which means you must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays as required/needed
  • Exceptional attendance
