Job summary

Concentra is hiring a Medical Support Specialist to join our patient care team. You will perform DOT and non-DOT drug testing, prepare patients for exams, and assist clinicians with procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have formal medical assistant training or direct patient care experience, with familiarity in HIPAA and documentation practices. We offer comprehensive benefits and a supportive work culture emphasizing quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience.
• Must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations.
• Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required ancillary testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examination and treatment.
• Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician and triaging emergent patients as needed.
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care.
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
• Notify supervisor if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected
• In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume
• Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit
• Perform front office duties: greet patients, check in/out, answer multi-line telephone system
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
• Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required
• Complete any applicable training including clinical competency training monthly
