Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers; navigate web-based applications.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and assisting during routine procedures.
• Maintains clean, stocked patient care areas and escorts patients to radiology/lab as needed.
• Reviews medication lists in EMR; retrieves Schedule VI meds under supervision; not licensed duties.
• Performs point-of-care testing and provides instructions for tests.
• Uses EMR to queue prescription renewals and documents tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests; verifies insurance, pre-authorizations and referrals.
• Prepares schedules and patient charts; procures medical correspondence as directed.
• Check-in using computer system; handles registration, copays and health proxy forms.
• Records appointment dispositions (cancelled/no-show) in the system.
• Monitors waiting area and facilitates flow; screens calls and communicates delays.
