Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality direct patient care in a team-based model within BIDHC. The role supports efficient administrative and clinical operations, respects diverse patient backgrounds, and reports to the Practice Manager.

The MA will assist during visits, document care in the EHR, manage vitals and phlebotomy, and participate in population health initiatives. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s in Health Science preferred.
• MA cert, CNA cert, EMT cert, or Phlebotomy cert preferred.
• 0–1 year related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to patient, practice, and organizational goals through care team coordination.
• Assist during visits: manage flow, inform delays, review meds/allergies, and communicate with staff.
• Provide clear hand-offs to providers and document visit details in the EHR.
• Perform MA duties under supervision: vitals, phlebotomy, immunizations (certified MA).
• Lead outreach for health maintenance and chronic disease management and assist health coaching.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensure sterilization and expiry monitoring.
• Queue prescriptions and enter orders in the EHR as directed for review by clinicians.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and verify insurance, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
• Identify OSHA issues and protect PHI; safeguard patient safety and privacy.
