Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support smooth, efficient practice operations and patient care. You will greet patients, assist with check-in and scheduling, and help patients with mobility and care needs as part of a broader clinical team.

Responsibilities include vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and EMR documentation to ensure accurate billing and care delivery. Strong teamwork and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• MA/EMT/CNA/LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, height/weight, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting during routine procedures.
• Performs point-of-care testing; communicates testing instructions to patients.
• Monitors and maintains medical equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness, sterility and valid expiration dates.
• Reviews medication lists in the EMR for review by licensed practitioners; may retrieve schedule VI and OTC meds under supervision.
• Uses EMR to queue prescription renewals and to document tasks for billing purposes.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts and documents for clinical activities in accordance with standards.
• Maintains patient flow, communicates delays, and acts as liaison between patients and staff.
