Job summary

Howard University is seeking a Clinical Account Rep I to be the first point of contact for patients and affiliates. You will handle a high volume of inbound calls, schedule appointments, and gather accurate demographics using Allscripts.

The role emphasizes patient-focused service, professional communication, and adherence to schedules. A one-year call center background and medical terminology knowledge are preferred to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in a high-volume call center.
• Experience with scheduling, registration, and call handling processes.
• Experience using Allscripts or similar scheduling systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments for patients and manage large amounts of inbound calls in a timely manner.
• Answer telephone promptly in a polite and professional manner and follow scripts for different call types.
• Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into Allscripts (address, phone, insurance status).
• Review appointment date/time/location with caller and schedule correctly.
• Inform caller of items to bring to appointment (insurance card, meds, copay).
• Remind caller to arrive 15–30 minutes early to complete paperwork.
• Answer questions and offer information to provide patient-focused service.
• Identify needs, clarify information, research issues, and provide solutions.
• Meet QA requirements and other KPI metrics.
• Maintain organization, multitask, set priorities, and manage time effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
