Job summary

Orion Groups is seeking a Clinical Application Transition Leader to support the Oracle Cerner Millennium go-live for an Ambulatory Surgery Center environment in Arizona. This onsite 12-month contract-to-hire role focuses on heavy end-user support and workflow optimization during activation.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in Cerner Millennium settings, experience with SurgiNet or Cerner Anesthesia, and strong perioperative workflow knowledge. Bachelor's or an Associate's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in highly regulated healthcare environments focusing on Cerner Millennium applications (SurgiNet or Cerner Anesthesia).
• Experience with perioperative workflows (Pre-op, Intra-op, PACU) in ASC or hospital settings.
• Proven success providing at-the-elbow support during large go-live events or upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clinicians navigate the new EHR during activation.
• Collaborate with surgical staff to define Cerner workflows in OR and PACU.
• Provide side-by-side assistance for documentation, order entry, and medication administration.
• Identify and resolve end-user access issues or bottlenecks and advise on risks.
• Monitor tracking boards and anesthesia records for throughput and surgical tracking.
• Liaise between end-users and the technical center to escalate and resolve issues.

OVERVIEW

At Orion, we are seeking a Clinical Application Transition Leader to join the clinical implementation team providing intensive, "at-the-elbow" (ATE) support during the transition to the Oracle Cerner Millennium platform within an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) environment.

OPPORTUNITY

12-month contract-to-hire; Onsite in Arizona (U.S. – Central Time Zone)

SALARY

$100,000 – $115,000 W2 plus benefits

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for ensuring clinicians, surgeons, and staff successfully navigate the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system during the high-stakes activation phase.
• Partner with surgical staff and anesthesiologists to analyze real-time user needs and define efficient Cerner workflows within the OR and PACU.
• Provide side-by-side assistance for clinical documentation, order entry, and medication administration to ensure patient safety and data integrity.
• Identify and resolve end-user access issues or workflow bottlenecks, advising management on potential risks or system optimization needs.
• Monitor the SurgiNet Tracking Board and Anesthesia records to ensure seamless patient throughput and accurate surgical tracking.
• Act as the primary liaison between clinical end-users and the technical Command Center to escalation and resolve software bugs or hardware issues.

KEY EXPERIENCE

• 2+ years of experience in highly regulated healthcare environments focusing on Cerner Millennium applications (specifically SurgiNet or Cerner Anesthesia).
• Proven experience with perioperative workflows, including Pre-op, Intra-op, and PACU protocols within an ASC or hospital setting.
• Demonstrated success in providing "at-the-elbow" support during large-scale EHR go-live events or system upgrades.
• Proficiency in navigating complex clinical documentation modules such as Dynamic Documentation and PowerChart.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred, or a High School diploma with relevant job-specific experience in clinical informatics or surgical services.
