Job summary

Orion Groups is seeking a Clinical Informatics Specialist to provide frontline Cerner support for clinicians in the Chicago area. You will train and personalize Cerner workflows for physicians and staff, improving adoption and user experience.

You will work onsite in Illinois, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and leaders to optimize provider workflows and informatics solutions. A 3-month W2 contract is involved, with potential travel.

Qualifications

• Strong Cerner expertise with 5+ years supporting providers in inpatient settings.
• Experience with Imprivata or similar clinical authentication solutions.
• Experience supporting physician adoption, EHR optimization, and clinical applications implementations.
• Clinical background such as Nursing or Allied Health.
• Hands-on Cerner applications support in inpatient environments.

OVERVIEW

At Orion, we are seeking a Clinical Informatics Specialist to provide frontline support for providers and clinical staff, as well as deliver Cerner training and personalization services in the Chicago, Illinois area. This opportunity is a highly visible presence within the hospital, working directly with physicians, nurses, and operational leaders to improve workflows, system adoption, and overall user experience.

OPPORTUNITY

• 3-month W2 contract; Onsite in Illinois (U.S. – Central Time Zone)
• Occasional travel to nearby facilities may be required

SALARY

$60 – $65/hour W2 contract plus benefits if needed

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide onsite clinical informatics support for physicians, nurses, and clinical staff.
• Serve as the Cerner clinical applications SME, supporting provider workflows and EHR functionality.
• Lead provider onboarding, personalization, and workflow optimization.
• Conduct clinical rounding to identify and resolve workflow and technology issues.
• Troubleshoot complex EHR, provider adoption, and clinical workflow issues to improve operational efficiency.

KEY EXPERIENCE

• Strong Cerner expertise, 5+ years of experience supporting providers in an inpatient hospital setting, and the ability to educate and support clinical end users.
• Experience with Imprivata or similar clinical authentication and badge-access solutions.
• Previous experience supporting physician adoption, EHR optimization, and clinical application implementations.
• Clinical background such as Nursing, Allied Health, or other direct patient care experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting Cerner applications in an inpatient environment.
• Experience providing physician/provider support, onboarding, personalization, and training.
• Strong knowledge of Cerner PowerChart, provider workflows, order entry, and clinical documentation processes.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Clinical Informatics, Health Information Management, Information Systems, or a related healthcare discipline.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

• Quick turnaround: preliminary interview followed by team interview on phone and Google Meets.
• Typically, one round with the hiring manager, joined by the team (virtual interview)
