Job summary

Anderson Hospital in Staunton, IL seeks a Physical Therapy Registrar/Scheduler to support the PT department. The role operates under the PT Manager and is a vital clerical team member responsible for patient registration, scheduling and billing support.

The position requires High School education, computer and typing skills, and at least one year in a medical environment with billing and precertification knowledge. PRN 12-hour shifts, with an hourly wage range of $16.25–$25.00.

Qualifications

• High School Education or Equivalent.
• One year experience in a medical environment.
• Experience with medical insurance billing and precertification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attends reception desk and performs clerical and receptionist duties.
• Performs patient registration.
• Compiles and records medical charts, reports and correspondence.
• Answers telephone, schedules appointments and greets and directs patients.
• Confirms patients’ insurance eligibility with insurance companies, performs pre-certifications if needed, and verifies patient’s benefits for physical therapy treatment.
• Collects co-payments at time of visit in the form of cash, check or e-pay if needed.
• Monitors and contacts “drop-out” patients. Attempts to reschedule patients with missed appointments.
• Prepares next day charge sheets.
• Post and balance all charges in CPSI System.
• Processes requests from Health Information Services Dept.
• Maintains inventory of all office supplies and miscellaneous items.
• Maintains list of all New Patients by: Patient Name, Physician, Insurance Type
• Maintains all IE POC and DC POC for physician signature.
• Compiles daily, weekly, and monthly statistical calculations to include visits, charges, units, average charge and percentage of arrivals per Clinician, as well as facility totals for inpatients and outpatients.
• Other duties as assigned.
