Overview
This position supports front desk operations and patient flow as the first point of contact for Precision Orthopaedics. It involves assisting patients with check-in and check-out for appointments, insurance verifications, medical records requests, and related duties. Travel to specified locations is required.

Position Summary
Responsible for all check-in and check-out functions of medical front desk, scheduling appointments, answering patient questions, medical records management and pre-certifications.
Position Responsibilities
- Attend department, clinic or company meetings as required
- Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns
- Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members
- Respond to changing situations flexibly to meet current needs, including reprioritizing work as necessary
- Attend required annual in-service programs
- Demonstrate attention to detail in documentation, recording and patient information
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and maintain safe working environment
- Identify potentially unsafe situations and notify supervisor
Specific Duties
- Meet and greet patients promptly, in a professional and courteous manner
- Obtain patient information during office hours
- Provide patients with required paperwork – H&P, Financial Policy, Patient Information Sheet
- Obtain copies of patients insurance cards, MCO identification cards
- Verify patient insurance coverage is current and correct at each visit
- Review patient label and chart contents for completeness and accuracy
- Accurately scan insurance cards (front and back)
- Input patient information and register patient as needed
- Schedule appointments (new, follow-up, reschedule) per physician protocol
- Obtain referrals by checking carriers online
- Schedule appointments with other specialists as needed
- Collect co-pays, co-insurance and self-pay amounts at time of service
- Handle all calls professionally and direct to proper personnel
- Run schedules
- Communicate with physicians and clinical support staff
- Address all messages by end of the day
- Enter all patient information into the system by end of the day
- Make every effort to accommodate patient needs according to physician protocol when scheduling
Additional Duties
- Travel to other locations as necessary
- Confirm and/or reschedule appointments when needed
- Filing as needed
- Saturday rotation as needed
- Additional duties as assigned by the manager
Education/Experience Required
- Must be a High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Must be friendly, courteous and have good communication skills when greeting patients
- Previous experience in a busy clinic or physician office is preferred
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements include the ability to frequently hear and communicate, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull, push and kneel. Maximum unassisted lift = 25 lbs; average lift less than 10 lbs.
