Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Dental Care is seeking a Clinic Dispensing Assistant to support IMS operations, inventory and sterilization preparation of instruments and supplies. The role involves patient care areas, labs and simulation spaces, ensuring equipment readiness and accuracy.

The preferred candidate will have dental/instrument experience, knowledge of tracking systems, and prior academic healthcare exposure while maintaining strong attention to detail and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

Chief Purpose of the Position:

The Clinic Dispensing Assistant (CDA)

Supports IMS operations through the dispensing, receiving, tracking, maintenance, and sterilization preparation of clinical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Supports inventory accuracy, equipment readiness, and operational needs for clinical, laboratory, simulation, and patient care activities.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

• Dental, medical, sterilization, clinical support, or inventory experience.
• Knowledge of dental instruments and equipment or instrument tracking systems.
• Experience in an academic healthcare environment.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20–50 pounds as required
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to perform repetitive hand motions throughout the shift
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed
• Ability to manipulate small instruments and equipment components
• Exposure to noise, heat, and environmental conditions associated with sterilization processes

Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience
