Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking a Clinic Access and Scheduling Coordinator to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, secure pre-certifications, and route referrals within the dermatology clinic.

The role organizes appointment schedules, handles check‑in, and manages outbound calls. You will act as a team lead for PASR staff, coach colleagues, and assist supervisors with productivity, training, and special projects, maintaining quality during downtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in appointment scheduling for medical procedures.
  • Experience with direct patient contact.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Communication skills required to gather and exchange information with other hospital staff members, physicians.
  • Concise written communication skills.
  • Experience providing mentorship and/or training to staff.
  • Proficient in use of computer hardware and software.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of training processes and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial data to access patients to clinical and financial systems of the hospital.
  • Verifies financial and insurance information, obtains pre-certification and authorization for referrals, collects co-pays and makes referrals to financial resources.
  • Maintains organization of appointment schedules, from appointment selections to check-in of patient for visit.
  • Functions as a team leader/coordinator for PASR I and II staff.
  • Coaches, assigns work and assists supervisors with monitoring of employee productivity and quality of work.
  • Assists supervisors with training new and existing staff.
  • Leads and trains staff to do special projects.
  • Organizes and maintains standards during system downtime.

Is responsible for all telephone communication into outpatient clinic.Functions as a team leader/coordinator for PASR I and II staff. Coaches, assigns work assists supervisor(s) with monitoring of employee’s productivity and quality of work. Serves as an additional facilitator and resource individual if supervisor is unavailable. Assists supervisor(s) with information and input into their team member’s productivity and conduct when evaluations come due. Must meet all Level I and II requirements of a PASR before promoting to this position or have equivalent experience. Assists managers with training new and existing staff. Can be relied upon to lead and train staff to do special projects.
