University Health KC is seeking a Clinic Access and Scheduling Coordinator for the Independence Clinic. This role manages patient access, schedules appointments, and serves as a front-line liaison to clinical and financial systems.

The position requires experience with medical scheduling, patient interaction, and strong communication. The incumbent will supervise PASR staff, assist with training, and support downtime system stabilization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients to obtain demographic and financial data to access hospital systems.
  • Verifies financial/insurance information and obtains pre-certification/authorization for referrals.
  • Collects co-pays and makes referrals to financial resources.
  • Maintains and coordinates appointment schedules; handles outpatient clinic check-in communications.
  • Leads and coordinates PASR I and II staff; coaches, assigns work and supports supervisor in productivity/quality assessments.
  • Trains new staff and provides input on team member performance.

Job Description

Serves as a front-line representative for the organization. Interviews patients and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial data to access patients to clinical and financial systems of the hospital. Communicates health benefit regulations and patient financial obligation to responsible parties.

Responsibilities include: verifies financial and insurance information, obtains appropriate pre-certification and authorization for referrals, collects, co-pays and makes referrals to appropriate financial resources.

Maintains organization of appointment schedules, from appointment selections to check-in of patient for visit. Is responsible for all telephone communication into outpatient clinic.

Functions as a team leader/coordinator for PASR I and II staff. Coaches, assigns work assists supervisor(s) with monitoring of employee's productivity and quality of work. Serves as an additional facilitator and resource individual if supervisor is unavailable. Assists supervisor(s) with information and input into their team member’s productivity and conduct when evaluations come due. Must meet all Level I and II requirements of a PASR before promoting to this position or have equivalent experience. Assists managers with training new and existing staff. Can be relied upon to lead and train staff to do special projects. Help organize and maintain standards during system downtime.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Communication skills required to gather and exchange information with other hospital staff members, physicians.
  • Concise written communication skills.
  • Experience providing mentorship and/or training to staff.
  • Proficient in use of computer hardware and software.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of training processes and/or procedures.
  • Associates Degree.
