Job summary

Washington State University seeks a Coordinator for the Challenge Program & Climbing Wall in Pullman, WA. You will oversee daily climbing-wall operations, safety, budgeting, and staff supervision, while fostering campus and community partnerships to create experiential education opportunities.

The role emphasizes program development, training, and risk management to deliver engaging experiences for students and the public in a university recreation setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with three years related experience and at least one year supervisory experience.
• Education/experience may be substituted year-for-year.
• Certification as climbing wall instructor or challenge course facilitator from a recognized org.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).

Responsibilities

• Oversee management and daily operations of the climbing wall and low/high-ropes course.
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external partners for experiential education.
• Manage program budgets, coordinate operations, supervise staff, and provide training.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and high-quality participant experiences.
